This initiative, known as the Enhanced Learning Strategy (ELS) began in 2003 and has since transformed many of the learning and teaching environments in the schools. Ron was the recipient of the Canadian Association of School Administrators EXL award for Excellence and Leadership in Education, in 2006 and recently, received the 2008 HERO in Education Award from Reader's Digest-Selection magazine, again, for his work in the creation and implementation of the ELS. Under Ron's guidance, the Eastern Townships School Board signed partnership agreements with the world famous Cirque du Soleil and with the country of Uruguay, to assist them in the largest deployment of laptop computers in the world, over 400,000. Ron has been an educator for over 33 years and has been a speaker at many conferences in North and South America, as well as in Europe. As a teacher, administrator, consultant and parent, Ron believes that education is now at an important crossroad. Ron has been often solicited for his insights and perspectives on the best approaches to take when using technology in the classroom.
