Blogging 101: The Essence of Blogging

This session will introduce the fundamentals of blogging and address many of the fundamental questions surrounding blogs and blogging such as:
•    Why blog
•    Where to blog
•    How to get started
•    Options and choices available
•    How to modify and change a WordPress blog
•    Software requirements
•    Tips and tricks

By the end of this session, participants will have the knowledge, skills and abilities to necessary to the brave new world of blogging either alone or with their students and begin contributing to the blogisphere.

John Goldsmith is an online educator at the Fraser Valley Distance Education School (FVDES) where he teaches humanities and business related courses. John has been an online educator for more then 15 years and was an active computer and Internet user from many years before that.  He has presented numerous workshop and in-serve sessions at local, regional and province wide events for groups such as LearnNow BC, BCSSTA, BCTLA & CUEBC.

In his spare time, John writes a technology column for the BC Teacher Librarian’s Association and maintains the web site and e-mail lists for the BC Social Studies Teacher's Association and writes a online technology blog called “DE Tools” (http://www.detools.ca) .
