Darren Yung Burnaby, BC Darren has a degree in Computing Science from SFU and has been teaching for the past 8 years. He is currently teaching ICT 8-12 courses at Frank Hurt Secondary School ranging from computer basics such as typing and using a GUI to programming in C++ and Java to creating interactive SWF movies using Macromedia Flash. He is an open source software advocate and user, who prefers to run his computers with Linux, GIMP, Firefox and OpenOffice. His philosophy on learning and teaching with computers is that the hardware and software is not what is important (PC vs Mac, Windows vs OSX), but the fundamental concepts and skills of using the computer and the software applications are what matter. He lives in Burnaby with his wife Irene, and two children, Mackenzie and Nathan penphoe@gmail.com |
