Lessons to be Shared from Using Technology in the Classroom: The Human Factor Prevails! |
|
| All too often, educators assume that the presence of technology in the classroom will result in a pedagogical "epiphany" for the students. However, the presence of technology will only serve to illustrate major areas of needed development and support. The six year experience of the teachers in the Eastern Townships School Board (ETSB) has served to clearly demonstrate that the much heralded transformation must be done in a manner that allows for "success and failure." In this session, Ron will present the key findings of a major survey completed by the teachers, students and parents of the ETSB that depicts the true impact of technology in the classroom. Ron will also share some insights into the best approaches to take to convince fellow educators that technology is now an essential part to making education relevant for children. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and share their feedback with colleagues. Podcasts from ETSB teachers will also be made available. Participants are encouraged to visit the School Board's website at www.etsb.qc.ca and visit the section entitled Enhanced Learning Strategy. | |

Ron has been an educator for over 33 years and has been a speaker at many conferences in North and South America, as well as in Europe.
