Using Media to Engage Students in the Olympics

The upcoming Olympics and Paralympics are an outstanding teachable moment.  There are a number of ways to use new media to engage students in these games.  From video broadcasts in the classroom, to web 2.0 tools including Youtube and Twitter, students can be engaged in the Games in ways that have not previously been possible.  This session will provide an overview of the resources available for the Olympics and Paralympics and offer suggestions for teachers interested in using media in the classroom during the Games.

Chris Kennedy is the Assistant Superintendent of Schools with the West Vancouver School District.  Chris has been both an elementary and secondary Principal, and continues to teach a blended learning course in West Vancouver.
